You may be wondering why I am emailing you about performances when we are almost done for the year and you are busy worrying about finals (well, most of you anyway). The answer is quite simple: you guys are just so popular and so awesome that we already have two potential gigs lined up for July!

Thursday, July 11th

• Balboa Park performance, 5pm to 10pm (with breaks and dinner provided)

This performance at a huge Balboa Park celebration is an amazing opportunity to get our beloved pep band some off-campus exposure–roughly 8000 people will attend! RSVP in the facebook group (in the post made by Lilla) if you will be available. Think the scope and importance of the student affairs meeting we played at this year, but off-campus and with dinner provided instead of breakfast.

Saturday, July 13th

• San Diego Pride Parade, Hillcrest, 10am

We do this one every year and it’s always a ton of fun. If you’re in town for the Balboa gig, you should head to this one as well!

I also want to thank everyone for an amazing year! This is our last week of pep events for the year before meeting again in the fall. I wish all of you the very best of luck on finals and I hope you all have a fantastic summer–you’ve earned it!

• MMW Blowout, closet meet 2pm

We’ll be performing in ERC for this one. Since it’s so close to storage we won’t be using cars to move gear so please meet at the closet and help walk stuff over!

Friday, June 7th

• Revelle Watermelon Drop, closet meet 11am, call time 11:30

Come on out to this awesome Revelle tradition! Please come to the closet to help move gear, but otherwise meet by Urey Hall.

Saturday, June 8th

• Triton 5k, Triton Statue, closet meet 8am, call time 8:30am

This will be our last gig of the year! It’ll be bright and early but a great way to kick off that pre-finals weekend.

Tuesday, May 28th

This will be our last regular rehearsal of the year, as crazy as it for me to type that. We will be preparing for our week 10 performances. If you have not already, please bring your hawaiian (make sure your name is on the tag), bring your yearbook payments, bring your Bandquet payments, and if you can, bring me to life (and save me from the dark).

Friday, May 31st

• Bandquet, Karl Strauss Sorrento Mesa, rides at Sun God, 5:00pm

Bust out the formal attire and get ready to celebrate with your fellow pepsters at Bandquet! You can find the details in the RSVP form. Following the festivities will be our annual post-Bandquet alumni meet ‘n’ greet, so stay tuned for details on that.

If you still need to send in an absentee ballot for officer elections, you must email me by 12:00am on Wednesday, May 29th. You can find the ballot here; just email me with your choices.

Hopefully you all had an awesome Sun God weekend! This week our only event is a very important rehearsal.

Tuesday, May 21st

• rehearsal, RIMAC Green Room, 7:45pm

We’ll be starting off with elections, so arrive on time. We have plenty of candidates to get through with the following process:

• 2 minute max speech about your qualifications and why you are running
• 3 questions from the voters
• Conductor candidates must lead a song (Lindsay chooses which)

If you won’t be at rehearsal, keep an eye out for another email later this week which will contain the online voting form. Results will be announced at Bandquet.

Speaking of which, it’s past the deadline but we can still take a few late Bandquet sign-ups. Email me and RSVP here ASAP. Be advised that the Sun God parking lot meet time for rides has been moved to 5:00pm. Also, don’t forget to bring payment to rehearsal if you have not done so already.

Thanks for enduring the long play times and heat during Transfer Admit Day. As usual we got a ton of sign-ups, so hopefully we’ll see some of those potential pepsters again next year!

We’ll be in RIMAC as usual but not in the Green Room. Meet at the closet so we can take our gear up the elevator and out to the lobby.

This week we will hold our second and final week of nominations. If you haven’t seen them already, you can view the results of last week’s nominations at this spreadsheet.

Also be sure to sign up and pay for Bandquet as soon as you can. You can find the RSVP form at this link. Sign up by May 19th, this upcoming Sunday. If you are undecided but may still potentially attend, fill out the form and if you need to cancel later. We need to contact the venue with entree and attendee estimates so if you try to sign up later we may not be able to accommodate you!

Otherwise we have no performances this week. Instead, you should go to the Sun God Festival and listen to other people perform for a change!

Sorry for this last minute change but it turns out RIMAC will be closed off for a concert tomorrow. Rehearsal is moved to Wednesday, May 8th at 8pm. Don’t head to RIMAC tomorrow (Tuesday) night! We’ll be in the Green Room as usual, though in the off chance we’re elsewhere I’ll let you know.

We had a great showing at the Chocolate Festival despite the later notice and the mid-day timing, so thanks to those of you who went! Hopefully your midterms are coming along alright. Here’s our week six:

Tuesday, May 7th

• rehearsal, RIMAC Green Room, 7:45pm

This week we will be starting nominations for next year’s officers, so start thinking about who you might nominate and for what position. You can also nominate yourself if you’d like. We’ll hold two weeks of nominations, elections will be during week 8, and the results will be announced at bandquet.

Saturday, May 11th

• Transfer Admit Day, Triton Statue steps (Price Center near Yogurtworld), closet meet 9:00am, call time 9:30am

This won’t be quite as intense as Triton Day but it’ll be a great opportunity to play for all the incoming transfers. Performance time will be roughly 10:00am to 2:00pm but with plenty of breaks, including a longer break for lunch. Be sure to bring your hawaiians!

I’ll be sending out another email sometime very soon regarding our end of the year bandquet on May 31st, so keep an eye out for that.

As you may already know, we will be playing at the Chocolate Festival this week.

Friday, May 3rd

• Sixth College Chocolate Festival, Camp Snoopy courtyard, closet meet 1:45pm, call time 2:15

We’ll be performing from 3pm to 4pm so if you are coming from class just try to hurry in by 3. The times are a bit earlier as we’ll be getting our chocolate before we play, so be sure to bring some water to drink lest you melt your reeds (because wood can totally melt –Ed.) /mess up your horns/don’t care because you play percussion like me :p. If you don’t have class you are completely welcome to come earlier (the whole event runs from 1pm-4pm) and enjoy the festival before playing.

Afterwards will be a short break and then rides are 7pm at Sun God for Iron Man 3! Don’t be late to that one, we will be leaving at 7:15pm sharp since it will be really packed at the theater.

I cannot thank you guys enough for pulling through at Tuesday’s student affairs meeting. It is absolutely amazing that even on an early weekday morning you can make it happen when it counts! Grad Nite and the health fair were also some great performances. This week will be very lax in comparison so you can all sleep in and study or whatever.

Tuesday, April 30th

This is our first rehearsal since Davis so we will spend time having a bit of a debrief. Otherwise we will be back to practicing and potentially debuting some new songs!

Friday, May 3rd

• Pepband Goes to the Movies, 7:00pm rides at Sun God

Don’t get too excited, this is just a hang out and not an actual performance (though playing at a movie theatre might make for a fun gig some day). We’ll be watching that new movie about the poor, unattractive guy who wears the metal suit that doesn’t do anything cool.

Hang in there through midterms season! Also keep in mind our end of the year bandquet will be May 31st, so be sure to keep that Friday free.
